In the 5thth minute of the game Klas Samuelsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 7th minute, Antonio Arias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Samuel Gunnarsson got free with Julio Vera in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 13 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Klas Samuelsson. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute of play forced Kälvesta IOF's goalkeeper Kjell Ros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute Klas Samuelsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kjell Ros was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Klas Samuelsson in the 38th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kjell Ros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Klas Samuelsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. When Felix Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montenegro couldn't finish the play. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kjell Ros having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gheorghe Muntian in the 80th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zsolt Várdai, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gheorghe Muntian in the 89th minute of play. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Kälvesta IOF were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
