Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manfred Rudqvist in the 23rd minute of the match. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Simão de Toledo was slow to take the kick. During this time Manchester United FC's players had a chance to rest. Freek Tamminga made a great header on Manchester United FC's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. After a rather tough play, Manchester United FC's Rui Andrade got a free kick in the 27th minute. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bruno Martini was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruno Martini having to interfere. In the 53rd minute, Agustín Saelices made a precise shot to the right of Bruno Martini. Manchester United FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Bruno Martini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. A very nice done corner allowed Manfred Rudqvist to score against Julio Vera in Ecuador's goal. 1-2 after 77 minutes. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruno Martini having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Bruno Martini. Manchester United FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
