To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 23 minutes into the match, Los Irrompibles's Zakariás Lányi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of play forced Los Irrompibles's goalkeeper Fabricio Lawrence to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ariel Baldovino's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ariel Baldovino helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Los Irrompibles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ariel Baldovino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Los Irrompibles's Rogelio Herrasti got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Luis Andino hit a great ball. Rogelio Herrasti in the 38thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogelio Herrasti in the 41st minute of the match. Fabricio Lawrence stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. After 43 minutes, Daniel Zorita made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. Los Irrompibles's Fabricio Lawrence tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Fabricio Lawrence didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rogelio Herrasti stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zakariás Lányi, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabricio Lawrence having to interfere. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Los Irrompibles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristo Gregory didn't get a good kick on the ball.
