Through an outstanding action, after 3 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Bengt Persson sent off a good shot on target. If Boris Spengler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the match, FC Schonebeck's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Lance Malliouris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bengt Persson made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 16thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Julio Vera would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 17th minute of play forced FC Schonebeck's goalkeeper Lance Malliouris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 20th minute, Anselm Hayer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 22nd minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lance Malliouris was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anselm Hayer, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 28th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lance Malliouris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bengt Persson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC Schonebeck was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Laudrup didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Schonebeck's Lance Malliouris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 32nd minute of play. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute. A nice corner shot did that Antonio Arias got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lance Malliouris quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Agustín Saelices made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that FC Schonebeck's Lance Malliouris managed to reach the ball for a save. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anselm Hayer in the 43rd minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bengt Persson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bengt Persson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. FC Schonebeck's Boris Spengler got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 53rd minute, Bengt Persson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 54th minute, Anselm Hayer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Anselm Hayer blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 61st minute, which Lance Malliouris however easily saved by the left post. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Lance Malliouris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bengt Persson in the 79th minute of play. Lance Malliouris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lance Malliouris having to interfere. Mustafa Ekrem Avşar took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lothar Drinkard went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score.
