Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilfredo Rodriguez having to make a save. Wilfredo Rodriguez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilfredo Rodriguez having to interfere. After 24 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilfredo Rodriguez was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Pindobassu EC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Pindobassu EC's Nilmar Vargas broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 34 played minutes Pindobassu EC got a freekick which was hit by Nilmar Vargas. Pindobassu EC made a substitution. Humberto Diniz replaced Gilberto Cordeiro. After a rather tough play, Pindobassu EC's Nilmar Vargas got a free kick in the 34th minute. 36 minutes into the match, Pindobassu EC's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Wilfredo Rodriguez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pindobassu EC's goalkeeper Wilfredo Rodriguez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 40th minute of play forced Pindobassu EC's goalkeeper Wilfredo Rodriguez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 40 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeff Beck in the 50th minute of play. In the 55th minute Jeff Beck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led Pindobassu EC's Nilmar Vargas to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Wilfredo Rodriguez in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wilfredo Rodriguez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 59th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Pindobassu EC's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilfredo Rodriguez came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pindobassu EC's Mário Azevedo was substituted for Víktor Donatello. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilfredo Rodriguez having to make a save. In the 79th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Pindobassu EC's Wilfredo Rodriguez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 82nd minute of play. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dorian Hoffmann went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. A collision led to Pindobassu EC getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Raphael Bertassi hit a great ball. Wilfredo Rodriguez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 93rd minute of the match. In the 94th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilfredo Rodriguez was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. The Pindobassu EC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
