The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rune Snäll. That made the score 1-0 after 6 minutes of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Rune Snäll made a huge save. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zumar Figueroa in the 16th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rune Snäll made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 20th minute. With his leg Rune Snäll managed to avoid a goal in the 21stth minute, when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 22 minutes into the match, Rayo Tharkad's goalkeeper Rune Snäll had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Apoena Ocaña, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th match minute, Rayo Tharkad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Bermejo to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Rayo Tharkad's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rune Snäll came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 43rd minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 45th minute of play forced Rayo Tharkad's goalkeeper Rune Snäll to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Rayo Tharkad made a substitution. Adolfo Hevia replaced Hondo Arratia. In the 53rd minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Rune Snäll. Rayo Tharkad's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Rayo Tharkad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Humberto Leon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rayo Tharkad's Oihan Aguado was substituted for Feliciano Roig. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Sancho scored 5-0 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rune Snäll, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Humberto Leon hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Felix Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rune Snäll. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felix Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. Rune Snäll showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Adolfo Hevia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Rayo Tharkad's Adolfo Hevia got a free kick in the 96th minute. Rune Snäll showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 98th minute after Rayo Tharkad's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Ecuador walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
