Claude Vilter's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claude Vilter helped the player get up and apologised. The crowd rose to their feet as Recolta Alamor's Claude Vilter slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Lautaro Navarro. That made the score 2-0 after 43 minutes of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Pujols in the 51st minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The throw-in from Terrell McCracken in the 54th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Honduras's Esteban Carvallo. Sebastian Villa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without German Whitley having to interfere. In the 60th minute Marlin Cano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lautaro Navarro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 82nd minute, Sebastian Villa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. German Whitley was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Edmundo Espiga in the 86thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of German Whitley, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. German Whitley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 87th minute of play. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marlin Cano in the 91st minute of the match. Edmundo Espiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Honduras's Lautaro Navarro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claude Vilter in the 95th minute of play.
