Saverio Gonchan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute of play. In the 20th minute Diego Manex shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 24th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Ur couldn't finish the play. Cieneguita's Saverio Gonchan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 52nd minute of play. Saverio Gonchan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 60th minute. In the 61st minute, Cristian Ur left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cieneguita fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Saverio Gonchan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Cieneguita's Saverio Gonchan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Cieneguita from getting a goal against them. With his leg Saverio Gonchan managed to avoid a goal in the 70thth minute, when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Ur, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 75th minute of the match Cieneguita got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Delmiro Gilesindo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Delmiro Gilesindo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Cristian Sancho in the 78thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Cieneguita had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
