Benito Sanz acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 3rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Metodi Lyubchenkov. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jan-Åke Norberg went, in the 6th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After 9 minutes, Juan Rubio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Plast i Naturen FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 10th minute, Aaron Alcocer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jan-Åke Norbergs short, quick shot in the 11thth minute got Benito Sanz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jan-Åke Norberg received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benito Sanz came out and tried to block the shot, but Jan-Åke Norberg slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 12th minute. In the 20th minute, Nicklas Löfdahl hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 3-0 became the score in the 26th minute when Bengt-Arne Brun elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Bengt-Arne Brun kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. In the 34th minute Bengt-Arne Brun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Plast i Naturen FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Jan-Åke Norberg hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bengt-Arne Brun was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bengt-Arne Brun in the 51st minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Plast i Naturen FC booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Jan-Åke Norberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Plast i Naturen FC's Elpidio Pan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Axel Tasis in the 57th minute of play. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ubaldo Gervaso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bengt-Arne Brun in the 63rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Abel Carballo got a free kick in the 66th minute. When Jan-Åke Norberg came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Plast i Naturen FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jan-Åke Norberg couldn't finish the play. In the 72nd minute Ubaldo Gervaso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, Plast i Naturen FC's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseo Noboa came free, but Elpidio Pan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alan Moruga charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alan Moruga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alan Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Alfred Andersson fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 81st minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ubaldo Gervaso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Plast i Naturen FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
