In the 16th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Tony Guimarães was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. C. A. Atlanta's Tony Guimarães proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save C. A. Atlanta from getting a goal against them. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Tony Guimarães made a huge save. The corner ended in Juan Sebastián Puig almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but C. A. Atlanta's Tony Guimarães did a great save. C. A. Atlanta's Tony Guimarães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 30th minute of play. After 32 played minutes C. A. Atlanta got a freekick which was hit by Evaristo Rosio. In the 34th minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fermin Mingo during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fermin Mingo kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. With a little luck, C. A. Atlanta's Tony Guimarães got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 39th minute, Besart Toto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Tony Guimarães made a huge save. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that C. A. Atlanta's Tony Guimarães managed to reach the ball for a save. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute. The corner went over the outstretched arms of C. A. Atlanta's goalie and right to Luis Andino. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. C. A. Atlanta's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Constantino Bertol made the kick off in the second half. Tony Guimarães didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Guimarães having to interfere. C. A. Atlanta's Tony Guimarães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 55th minute of play. In the 55th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tony Guimarães was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 58th match minute, C. A. Atlanta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Besart Toto to maneuver through the defense. Besart Toto kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Tony Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 68th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Evaristo Rosio kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Tony Guimarães didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Teodoro Primo sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tony Guimarães prevented the ball from getting in the gole. During the 82nd minute of the match Besart Toto completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Besart Toto a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to C. A. Atlanta getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Besart Toto hit a great ball. In the 84th minute of the match Daniel Zorita sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tony Guimarães skillfully saved the ball. 85 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Tony Guimarães was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Daniel Zorita fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Daniel Zorita a yellow card for diving instead. Daniel Zorita kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. The supporters of C. A. Atlanta booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind C. A. Atlanta's goalkeeper Tony Guimarães, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
