Bambang Sagala came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by Venezuela's Tomas Illescas. But to his dismay, Tomas Illescas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bambang Sagala read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Emiliano Lesardo succeeded in the game's 17th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. In the 20th minute, Claudinei Canido made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Emiliano Lesardo sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Estudiantes de Merida FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moncho Arzube didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinei Canido in the 27th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bambang Sagala showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 29th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudinei Canido, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emiliano Lesardo in the 33rd minute. 35 minutes into the game, Honorio Lario cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 45th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Illescas to maneuver through the defense. 4-1 became the score in the 47th minute when Emiliano Lesardo elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar.

52 minutes into the match, Honorio Lario had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Honorio Lario was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bambang Sagala having to interfere. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudinei Canido in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. In the 67th minute, Patricio Costa fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Bambang Sagala, passed just outside the right post. 69 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Honorio Lario came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute Estudiantes de Merida FC were awarded a corner. Lando Morais went to the cornerflag to take it. Estudiantes de Merida FC's Lando Morais was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jonathan Ferrant in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 90th minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelino Quinten in the 91st minute of the match. After 94 minutes, Marcelino Quinten made it 6-1 with a short kick to the right side. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When the referee ended the match the Estudiantes de Merida FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
