Colombia's Pascual Carballar was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Santiago Cañizares in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling David Villa in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pedro Manzanares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 9th minute Kevin Mastache shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Cañizares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, Foguera's goal looked a bit too open when Kevin Mastache came free, but Santiago Cañizares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Colombia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ivan Rubio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Ivan Rubio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Pedro Manzanares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The supporters of Colombia booed when Foguera was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Villa didn't get a good kick on the ball. 53 minutes into the match, Foguera's goal looked a bit too open when Abram Sarmiento came free, but Santiago Cañizares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kai Rønne in the 58th minute of play. Axel Montenegros short, quick shot in the 62ndth minute got Santiago Cañizares to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 70 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Kai Rønne came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Foguera getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Frank Isward hit a great ball. Colombia's Abram Secada was substituted for Axel Montenegro. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kai Rønne in the 83rd minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ignacio Mastache fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santiago Cañizares having to interfere. Ignacio Mastache took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Santiago Cañizares. Santiago Cañizares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 91 minutes into the game, Abram Secada cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Santiago Cañizares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Foguera's Egun Montiel was substituted for Kai Rønne. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Colombia had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
