The supporters of Los Spurs booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan Gotthard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Los Spurs's goalkeeper Roland Hock, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 34th minute, Leon Horsky got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristian Sancho kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jan Gotthard's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. 48 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roland Hock. Los Spurs's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1.

The wind increased when Jan Gotthard made the kick off in the second half. Roland Hock showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 53rd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Leon Horsky could shoot a difficult shot in the 54th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. When Los Spurs's Jan Gotthard in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Roland Hock didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roland Hock breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Los Spurs's Roland Hock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 74th minute of play. In the 76th minute, one of Ecuador:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ecuador. Ecuador:s Julio Vera showed great skill when he stopped Patrick Klimbacher:s penalty. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roland Hock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jan Gotthard in the 85th minute. 90 minutes had been played when some careless play by Los Spurs's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. During the 97th minute of the match Antonio Arias completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Antonio Arias a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Antonio Arias got a free kick in the 98th minute. Patrick Klimbacher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out.
