When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Panayot Siderov took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Marcos Cotilla to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, CSKA's Tzonyo Lishkov got a free kick in the 18th minute. Tomas Berganza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of CSKA booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Berganza didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gospodin Vidinski got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. With a little luck, CSKA's Svetozar Kelchev got control of the ball when Isidoro Sarmiento tried to sneak it across the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Panayot Siderov came free, but Marcos Cotilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. CSKA's Svetozar Kelchev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 97th minute of play. Panama were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
