The audience thought a goal was coming when Kazimierz Traczewski got free with Julio Vera in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felix Montenegro in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Baykan Erincer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Daniel Zorita scored 0-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Baykan Erincer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Faustão Secco's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Faustão Secco helped the player get up and apologised. DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Erik Huang in the 34th minute. Kazimierz Traczewski's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play.
