Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 18th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicolas Olejmeulen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicolas Olejmeulen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. In the 24th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Sputchi FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. If Villiam Forsberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 32 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. 35 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karl-Magnus Tidén. In the 38th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 44th minute of play forced Sputchi FC's goalkeeper Nicolas Olejmeulen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Olejmeulen having to interfere.

Cristian Sancho in the 52ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eskil Engström in the 70th minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl-Magnus Tidén in the 74th minute of play.
