Anis Achour was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 9th minute to try and stop a shot by Symba's Tacettin Umay. But to his dismay, Tacettin Umay quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Anis Achour showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Gus Wootton kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Veiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anis Achour showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Anis Achour showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of the match. When Gus Wootton fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Symba's protests and gave Gus Wootton a yellow card for diving instead. In the 40th minute, Gus Wootton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomás San Juan came free with the goalkeeper in the 42nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tacettin Umay in the 45th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Symba were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
