Toni Betev struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Endzhekoy. The referee felt a red card was in order, 12 minutes into the game, when Alexander Carballo put in a rough tackle. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alexander Carballo got a free kick in the 13th minute. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Toni Betev tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 24 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Juan Rubio. FC Endzhekoy's Elenko Múzhkarov got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elenko Múzhkarov, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eliseo Noboa during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of FC Endzhekoy booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ignat Trendafilov might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ignat Trendafilov ran back to his position shaking his head. After 46 minutes, Abel Carballo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the FC Endzhekoy players grew even worse after the yellow card. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ignat Trendafilov stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ignat Trendafilov in the 51st minute of play. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Endzhekoy's Paja Bravin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save FC Endzhekoy from getting a goal against them. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elenko Múzhkarov, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elenko Múzhkarov in the 64th minute of the match. Ignat Trendafilov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Elenko Múzhkarov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. 80 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Elenko Múzhkarov came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Anani Lungarov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 87 minutes of play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Paja Bravin was left in no man's land by his defense there!
