The audience thought a goal was coming when Lu Yin Zheng got free with Benito Sanz in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 6th play minute Henrik Bratland came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Benito Sanz. 1-0. In the 11th minute, Lautaro Puig left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Costa Rica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. When Alexander Carballo fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Alexander Carballo a yellow card for diving instead. After 15 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alexander Carballo. 17 minutes into the game, Miklós Bodnár recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benito Sanz. Miklós Bodnár showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. If Rodrigo Palacios had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 23rd minute, Abel Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the ≮王者归来≯News at 11 defense, Eliseo Noboa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paulinho Vander. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Juan Rubio during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 31st match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Alcocer to maneuver through the defense. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Hróðvar Baugsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Hróðvar Baugsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lu Yin Zheng could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. An unexpected shot in the 37th minute by Rodrigo Palacios got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Rodrigo Palacios might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodrigo Palacios ran back to his position shaking his head. 44 minutes into the match, Lu Yin Zheng had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lu Yin Zheng was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-2.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. ≮王者归来≯News at 11 were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Costa Rica's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Lu Yin Zheng managed to get in a good position for a shot. ≮王者归来≯News at 11's supporters rose to their feet, but Lu Yin Zheng was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lu Yin Zheng in the 68th minute of play. When Rodrigo Palacios fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ≮王者归来≯News at 11's protests and gave Rodrigo Palacios a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, ≮王者归来≯News at 11's Rodrigo Palacios got a free kick in the 74th minute. If Lu Yin Zheng had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rodrigo Palacios scored 5-2 in the 82nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 86 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Lu Yin Zheng came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 92nd minute, Miklós Bodnár got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. ≮王者归来≯News at 11's José Carlos Pires quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Eliseo Noboa, made in the 95th minute of the game. When the referee ended the match the ≮王者归来≯News at 11 players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
