When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gregorio Hotz was the one to do the kick off. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aaron Cutberto in the 57th minute. Espirillo FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Felix Montes fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jorge Iztal quite easily take care of the ball. In the 81st minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig to a score. 5-1 in the 81st minute. Saverio Cristos hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Ecuador walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
