The crowd rose to their feet as Omar Cordara kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 2-0 in the 22 minute of play. Salvador Gisbert made in the 27th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Newell´s's Fernan Crescencio. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Tadeo Jakobe sent off a good shot on target. 37 minutes in the game Fernan Crescencio did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Indiana Turban. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

A collision led to Newell´s getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Tadeo Jakobe hit a great ball. In the 57thth minute of the game Tadeo Jakobe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 58 minutes, Clemente Benat mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Newell´s and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Newell´s was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clemente Benat didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amancio Bilintx hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Cristobal Estavan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fernan Crescencio got a throw-in 74 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Indiana Turban. After a rather tough play, Newell´s's Clemente Benat got a free kick in the 85th minute. In the 87th minute, Omar Cordara made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tadeo Jakobe in the 94th minute of play.
