Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Laurențiu Cinteză took the kick off in the first half of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Pompiliu Roşculeţ stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Pompiliu Roşculeţ tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Frank Groth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Laurențiu Cinteză received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Laurențiu Cinteză tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. 31 minutes into the match, FC Hamburg's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Volker Harm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Pompiliu Roşculeţ kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Volker Harm tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Laurențiu Cinteză managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Hamburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Laurențiu Cinteză was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Laurențiu Cinteză in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Volker Harm made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Felix Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. In the 66th minute, Felix Montenegro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Volker Harm. The goal made the score 0-1. The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC Hamburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurențiu Cinteză didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 71st minute, Laurențiu Cinteză hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Markus Heimrath kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. FC Hamburg's Eduard Hilpert was substituted for Gogita Gagnidze. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Volker Harm having to make a save. In the 80th minute, Laurențiu Cinteză made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Volker Harm made a huge save. Volker Harm was a little too slow when Daniel Zorita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 85th minute. The score was now 1-2. Laurențiu Cinteză sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laurențiu Cinteză in the 94th minute of play. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
