After having played for 89 minutes, Francisco Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 91st minute Dennis Edström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A throw-in in the 94th minute of the game was made by Kristoffer Nyberg with Gunde Svan as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Dennis Edström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. In the 96th minute, Bruno Beldad hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aron Dahlbom was out of position in the 98 minute of play, and Jaime Cazalla capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jaime Cazalla really showed his touch with that goal: 3-2.
