Agustín Saelices fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claes Jönsson having to interfere. In the 11th minute, Agustín Saelices made a precise shot to the right of Claes Jönsson. La vecchia signora's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 13th minute, Alex Enegren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 14th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for La vecchia signora. In the 21st minute, Agustín Saelices fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Claes Jönsson, passed just outside the right post. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Luis Andino hit a great ball. Claes Jönsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 27th minute. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Claes Jönsson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claes Jönsson having to interfere. Claes Jönsson was out of position in the 38 minute of play, and Daniel Zorita capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Daniel Zorita really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. A collision led to La vecchia signora getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Kasper Ström hit a great ball. An unexpected shot in the 44th minute by Cristian Sancho got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Claes Jönsson made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gunnar Nordahl made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Claes Jönsson. La vecchia signora's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Claes Jönsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 58th minute of the match. After 59 played minutes La vecchia signora got a freekick which was hit by Jimmie Smed. In the 61st minute Felix Montes suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Ecuador's Max Alvarado was substituted for Felix Montes. Michael Forss hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. After 64 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Claes Jönsson. Claes Jönsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michael Forss in the 74th minute of play. Claes Jönsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 77th minute of the match. 78 minutes into the match, La vecchia signora's Michael Forss sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 82 minutes, Herman Arvidsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La vecchia signora and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Claes Jönsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felix Montenegro in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Claes Jönsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 88th match minute when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 7-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ecuador's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
