That made the score 1-0 after 30 minutes of play. 33 minutes into the match, Benedek Vén had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Benedek Vén was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Ciriaco Alfonso took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-4. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Mexico players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
