Burhanettin Berkkan came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Luz Tejedor. But to his dismay, Luz Tejedor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 38 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Teoman Renan came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Luz Tejedor hit a great ball. After the first half Peru were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. 60 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Witomir Grabski came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 61 minutes Peru's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Zeng Guo Sen who took care of the corner kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luz Tejedor got free with Burhanettin Berkkan in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 68th minute Eliseo Mina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Burhanettin Berkkan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
