When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Milagros Fraga took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Mickaël Maris to make any attempt to save it. 12 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Laércio Penha came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, Laércio Penha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Laércio Penha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 16 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mickaël Maris narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 18th match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Davut İskenderoğlu to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Davut İskenderoğlu got a free kick in the 19th minute. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Mickaël Maris made a huge save. Mickaël Maris didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 20th minute, which inside left pole to 2-1. Mickaël Maris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 27th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the game, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Laércio Penha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Peru were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after Nova Iguaçu MZFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. Julian Murillo was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. After a rather tough play, Peru's Emmanuel Reyes got a free kick in the 41st minute. Laércio Penha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolando Noboa having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Laércio Penha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Laércio Penha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mickaël Maris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After 62 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Manfredo Vale. Rolando Noboa was out of position in the 66 minute of play, and Laércio Penha capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Laércio Penha really showed his touch with that goal: 2-4. Alonso Berganza hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Mickaël Maris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Milagros Fraga in the 82nd minute of play. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Mickaël Maris, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 88th match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fábio de Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Luiz Fábio de Medeiros hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Heitor Ferreira hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Gallo in the 93rd minute of play forced Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Mickaël Maris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
