Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Terence Nicholas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 21 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Tory Weeks came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd match minute, Santos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lanny Gilmore to maneuver through the defense. Aaron Smallwood showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 29th minute of the match. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tyron Velasquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alberto Tafalla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Aaron Smallwood made a huge save. In the 36th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Santos FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Alberto Tafalla advanced and headed the ball into goal, 2-1 in the 36th minute. In the 40th minute Lanny Gilmore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 44 minutes into the match, Lanny Gilmore had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Joel Gaona made the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Santos FC's Dante Lacasa threw himself towards the right post 55 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Terence Nicholas, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 57th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aaron Smallwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Santos FC fans' excitement grew in the 62nd match minute when Santos FC's Lanny Gilmore looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 71 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Aaron Smallwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 72nd minute. In the 74th minute Terence Nicholas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 75th minute, Lautaro Mancebo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aaron Smallwood was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. 84 minutes into the game, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Aaron Smallwood made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-3. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tory Weeks in the 88th minute. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Through an outstanding action, after 92 minutes, Dante Lacasa successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 95 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Lanny Gilmore came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Facundo Cadaval hit a great ball.
