Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Traian Traian in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dante Lacasa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Andrei Oloieru was out of position in the 7 minute of play, and Alberto Tafalla capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Alberto Tafalla really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Traian Traian's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Fotbal Club Vaslui's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Andrei Oloieru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andrei Oloieru made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 18th minute. Macos Graciani made in the 28th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Fotbal Club Vaslui's Wellington Neves. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gică Hăulică during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Fotbal Club Vaslui's Gică Hăulică got a free kick in the 48th minute. Fotbal Club Vaslui's Toader Muncelean was substituted for Gil Fernandez. After 49 played minutes Fotbal Club Vaslui got a freekick which was hit by Gică Hăulică. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Dante Lacasa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Traian Traian's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. In the 61st minute, Mexico's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Toader Muncelean fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Traian Traian in the 64th minute of the match. Andrei Oloieru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Fotbal Club Vaslui defense, Alberto Tafalla kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andrei Oloieru. The Fotbal Club Vaslui fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andrei Oloieru should have stopped the shot. Fotbal Club Vaslui's Maurinho Maranhense was substituted for Traian Traian. 75 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Maurinho Maranhense came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andrei Oloieru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Facundo Cadaval, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Fotbal Club Vaslui booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Mancebo didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 84th minute of play forced Fotbal Club Vaslui's goalkeeper Andrei Oloieru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Maurinho Maranhense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Maurinho Maranhense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Andrei Oloieru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 97th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Mexico players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
