A collision led to Mjällby AIF getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Ermanno Di Palma hit a great ball. In the 7th minute, Joseph Stalin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lennart Bjurström. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Uno Kilman in the 11th minute of play. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Benito Sanz was out of position in the 14 minute of play, and Uno Kilman capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Uno Kilman really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Uno Kilman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Saltuk Arabacıoğlu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Noboa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 21 minutes Mjällby AIF's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Axel Tasis who took care of the corner kick. Alan Moruga charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alan Moruga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Moruga to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Efrain Moruga got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 35th minute, Mjällby AIF's Joseph Stalin ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. 39 minutes into the match, Eliseo Noboa notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Mjällby AIF's Saltuk Arabacıoğlu. Saltuk Arabacıoğlu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Mjällby AIF's zone, Lautaro Puig stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Saltuk Arabacıoğlu came out of the goal and Lautaro Puig tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Aleksander Kosmatka managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mjällby AIF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aleksander Kosmatka was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Uno Kilman scored 3-1 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Mjällby AIF's Uno Kilman. But to his dismay, Uno Kilman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. The audience was convinced that Uno Kilman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Uno Kilman in the 62nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nils-Erik Blomqvist in the 66th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Puig got free with Saltuk Arabacıoğlu in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mjällby AIF's Saltuk Arabacıoğlu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Mjällby AIF from getting a goal against them. Eliseo Noboa kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. 73 minutes into the game, Uno Kilman cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Mjällby AIF's Ermanno Di Palma. But to his dismay, Ermanno Di Palma quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-1. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Uno Kilman, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Saltuk Arabacıoğlu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 89 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Juan Rubio. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Axel Tasis hit a great ball.
