When the match clock showed 14 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Luiz Paulo Sousa sped through Oppenhuizen's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Wilfried Landzaat. In the 19th minute of the match, Evert van Zomeren got a very nice opportunity to score, but Carlos Fernando Salles was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 20th minute Ed Haydon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Fernando Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 26th match minute, Oppenhuizen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Panter to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Ed Haydon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Fernando Salles was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. 33 minutes into the match, Brejo dos Santos's goal looked a bit too open when Ed Haydon came free, but Carlos Fernando Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rdth minute of the game Ed Haydon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Brejo dos Santos's Carlos Fernando Salles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Carlos Fernando Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ed Haydon, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luís Paulo Toledo made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Brejo dos Santos's goal looked a bit too open when Evert van Zomeren came free, but Carlos Fernando Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Oppenhuizen's zone, Luís Paulo Toledo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilfried Landzaat came out of the goal and Luís Paulo Toledo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 55 played minutes Brejo dos Santos got a freekick which was hit by Dudu Tróia. The supporters of Oppenhuizen booed when Brejo dos Santos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murillo Fernandes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Evert van Zomeren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Brejo dos Santos getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Dudu Tróia hit a great ball. Carlos Fernando Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evert van Zomeren in the 62nd minute of play. If Luís Paulo Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 68 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Brejo dos Santos! In the 69th minute there was a penalty for Oppenhuizen. Han Veldhuis stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Carlos Fernando Salles. 3-1. With his leg Wilfried Landzaat managed to avoid a goal in the 73rdth minute, when Brejo dos Santos's Romário Pereira fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Romário Pereira might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilfried Landzaat. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Romário Pereira ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 77th match minute, Brejo dos Santos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Paulo Sousa to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Brejo dos Santos getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Duarte Jacinto hit a great ball. Carlos Fernando Salles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Evert van Zomeren's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Romário Pereira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilfried Landzaat having to interfere. When Brejo dos Santos's Romário Pereira in the 88th minute got a chance for a shot 88th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Oppenhuizen's goalie prevented a goal. Carlos Fernando Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ed Haydon, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. 94 minutes into the game, Ed Haydon cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Carlos Fernando Salles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Carlos Fernando Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evert van Zomeren in the 98th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Brejo dos Santos players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Oppenhuizen.
