Cristian Sancho scored 0-1 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bonifacio Matxin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great ball. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Caballo Negro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cosme Guter didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 29 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bonifacio Matxin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador were furious when Antonio Arias was red carded, 33 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 33 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ecuador! Gaudencio Gonchan charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gaudencio Gonchan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 46th minute, Luis Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Artur Van Caels made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Artur Van Caels in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 61st minute, Felix Montenegro fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Bonifacio Matxin, passed just outside the right post. In the 71st minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 72 minutes into the match, Caballo Negro's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Bonifacio Matxin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Agustín Saelices got free with Bonifacio Matxin in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Bonifacio Matxin came out and tried to block the shot, but Agustín Saelices slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 79th minute. In the 86th minute, Cristian Sancho fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Bonifacio Matxin, passed just outside the right post. Bonifacio Matxin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 88th minute. After 90 played minutes Caballo Negro got a freekick which was hit by Adélio Mota. Cristian Sancho kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. The Caballo Negro fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
