The Engineers's Kieran Floyd played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute of play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Kieran Floyd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 11 played minutes The Engineers got a freekick which was hit by Seyfi Türk. Kieran Floyd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Kieran Floyd made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th match minute, The Engineers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zühtü Celvet to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kieran Floyd having to interfere. Zühtü Celvet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play forced The Engineers's goalkeeper Kieran Floyd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kieran Floyd showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 36th match minute, The Engineers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eddy Beckett to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 37 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zühtü Celvet kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kieran Floyd. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Kieran Floyd in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kieran Floyd breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Fabinho Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Engineers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
