The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patricio Costa during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 9th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stanislaw Lichucki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guillermo Mariano made in the 10th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Tomas Illescas. After a rather tough play, Cambaratiba's Wilson Neiva got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 19thth minute of the game Patricio Costa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cambaratiba's Stanislaw Lichucki was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Marin Giubelean tried to sneak it across the goal line. 29 minutes into the game, Marin Giubelean recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. Marin Giubelean showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas got a free kick in the 32nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yuri Zanette got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 36 minutes into the game, Guillermo Mariano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cambaratiba the free kick. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Guillermo Mariano hit a great ball. In the 37th minute of the match Yuri Zanette sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Marin Giubelean managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cambaratiba's supporters rose to their feet, but Marin Giubelean was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 46th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. Marin Giubelean struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cambaratiba. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Marin Giubelean managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cambaratiba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marin Giubelean was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Cambaratiba's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stanislaw Lichucki came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Cambaratiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomás Madruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Stanislaw Lichucki having to make a save. 71 minutes into the match, Cambaratiba's goalkeeper Stanislaw Lichucki had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Illescas. After having played for 73 minutes, Marin Giubelean managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cambaratiba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marin Giubelean was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Guillermo Mariano made in the 75th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Tomas Illescas immediately put the ball in play. Marin Giubelean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cambaratiba's Marin Giubelean got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marcus Aparecido went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
