The audience was convinced that Francisco Seco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zdzislaw Chwalkiewicz was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brion Valverde got free with Joaquin Gayoso in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Brion Valverde to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Brion Valverde in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Zhelyazko Madzhunov fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
