Ecuador's Felix Montenegro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ignatius Casasola in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Ignatius Casasola showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. The corner ended in Felix Montenegro almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Garanhão do SUL's Ignatius Casasola did a great save. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Garanhão do SUL's Ignatius Casasola managed to reach the ball for a save. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ignatius Casasola narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. Ignatius Casasola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 27th minute after Garanhão do SUL's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgar Costa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ignatius Casasola having to make a save. In the 41st minute of the match, Edgar Costa got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Ignatius Casasola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Akis Kefallinos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

After 50 minutes, André Roriz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Garanhão do SUL and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 53rd match minute, Garanhão do SUL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adriano Leite to maneuver through the defense. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edgar Costa in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luis Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Garanhão do SUL's Angel Edorta was substituted for Salvador Lousada. After having played for 64 minutes, Albano Leizarraga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Garanhão do SUL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albano Leizarraga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 70th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albano Leizarraga in the 78th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho scored 0-3 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ignatius Casasola, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match clock showed 83 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Albano Leizarraga sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. Torcato Rebocho might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Torcato Rebocho ran back to his position shaking his head. Ignatius Casasola didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Agustín Saelices went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Garanhão do SUL.
