El Salvador's Eliseo Carballo was substituted for Moises Fernandino. In the 10th minute, Pavel Cojan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cătălin Chinezu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eliseo Carballo went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Valentino Ferrant hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. If Petru Huștea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 19 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Romeo Chelaru. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romeo Chelaru got free with Ricardo Zorita in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in El Salvador's zone, Romeo Chelaru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal and Romeo Chelaru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save El Salvador from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 29 minutes, Ricardo Zorita successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Jesus Carvallo charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jesus Carvallo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jesus Carvallo kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. MZ Rapid's Romeo Chelaru came free and shot a quick shot against goal 34 minutes in the game, fortunately Ricardo Zorita had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Ricardo Zorita was a little too slow when Andrei Bologan got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 39th minute. The score was now 1-1. El Salvador's Eliseo Carballo got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 46th minute, Romeo Chelaru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eliseo Carballo to make the kick off. After 55 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Jesus Carvallo. Eliseo Carballo took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cătălin Chinezu. Cătălin Chinezu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. In the 63rd match minute, El Salvador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jesus Carvallo to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Romeo Chelaru's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ricardo Zorita was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Grigore Eftimescu in the 66th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 68 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when Grigore Eftimescu came free, but Ricardo Zorita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Romeo Chelaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marc Wagner kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. 79 minutes into the match, Romeo Chelaru notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romeo Chelaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Petru Huștea managed to get in a good position for a shot. MZ Rapid's supporters rose to their feet, but Petru Huștea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Zorita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Romeo Chelaru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Ricardo Zorita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the MZ Rapid players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
