Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paul Cacheres in the 56th minute of the match. Paul Cacheress short, quick shot in the 59thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 60 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Xaime Canosa who took care of the corner kick. In the 62nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stasio Klimkiewicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Leal Losantos managed to get in a good position for a shot. F.C.Rohan's supporters rose to their feet, but Leal Losantos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. F.C.Rohan made a substitution. Omero Baños replaced Leal Losantos. If Omero Baños had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Costică Ţintă hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Ecuador lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
