Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. Golden Arrows were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jânio Motta took the corner. After having played for 26 minutes, Arkadiusz Wnukowski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Golden Arrows's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arkadiusz Wnukowski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 45thth minute, when Golden Arrows's Ruperto Gonza fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arkadiusz Wnukowski stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ruperto Gonza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 64 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
