The supporters of Ribera booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Chicote didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Edmondo Braccia sent off a good shot on target. In the 13th minute Hans Wery shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Guillermo Mariano got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 17th minute of the match, Hans Wery tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jonathan Ferrant saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 22nd minute of play forced Ribera's goalkeeper Alessandro Del Bello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute, Dalmacio Arixo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Dalmacio Arixo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dalmacio Arixo really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. In the 37th minute Hans Wery shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 39 minutes, Guillermo Mariano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the Ribera players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ribera's Alessandro Del Bello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 42nd minute of play. Cristiano Fantauzzi hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Hans Wery's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hans Wery helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ribera's Hans Wery got a free kick in the 47th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. Amerigo Bolli kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. After 60 played minutes Ribera got a freekick which was hit by Edmondo Braccia. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Venezuela's Patricio Costa pulled a muscle in his leg after 75 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Venezuela's Roberto Ocampo was substituted for Patricio Costa. In the 76th minute, Cristiano Fantauzzi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 79th minute, Roberto Ocampo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Dalmacio Arixo came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Ribera fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dalmacio Arixo couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute Hans Wery shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Many of Venezuela's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Venezuela may have spent more time on the ball, but Ribera were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
