Seosamh McLiam came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento. But to his dismay, Isidoro Sarmiento quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 11th minute, Miguel Miralles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Berganza struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Seosamh McLiam didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. Marcos Cotilla made an important save on a dangerous shot by Denny Dempsey in the 17th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Art Savic in the 18th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zawisza Bydgoszcz's Seosamh McLiam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 20th minute of play. When Denny Dempsey fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zawisza Bydgoszcz's protests and gave Denny Dempsey a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Panama booed when Zawisza Bydgoszcz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denny Dempsey didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brendanus Crowe's late challenge caught a Panama's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Brendanus Crowe helped the player get up and apologised. 25 minutes into the game, one of Zawisza Bydgoszcz:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 26 minutes into the match, Abraham Alguacil had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Seosamh McLiam. Zawisza Bydgoszcz's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abraham Alguacil was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 28th minute Abraham Alguacil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Seosamh McLiam saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felipe Ros kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Zawisza Bydgoszcz's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Seosamh McLiam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Zawisza Bydgoszcz's zone, Tomas Berganza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Seosamh McLiam came out of the goal and Tomas Berganza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 47th match minute, Zawisza Bydgoszcz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brendanus Crowe to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Berganza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Zawisza Bydgoszcz's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Seosamh McLiam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Berganza in the 56th minute of play forced Zawisza Bydgoszcz's goalkeeper Seosamh McLiam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 57th minute, Abraham Alguacil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Alex Cambeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jose Carita hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Isidoro Sarmiento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Seosamh McLiam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 67 minutes into the match, Tomas Berganza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Seosamh McLiam. Zawisza Bydgoszcz's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Berganza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. In the 71st minute, Art Savic made a precise shot to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. After 74 minutes, Rollan John mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zawisza Bydgoszcz and the Panama players grew even worse after the yellow card. Isidoro Sarmiento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Panama booed when Zawisza Bydgoszcz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geary McBjarton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Seosamh McLiam was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tomas Berganza showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-5 in the 80 minute of play. In the 83rd minute, Isidoro Sarmiento fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 87 minutes into the game, Tomas Berganza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. Seosamh McLiam was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 92nd minute, Zawisza Bydgoszcz's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Abraham Alguacil fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Alex Cambeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Seosamh McLiam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aaron Barrios's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Seosamh McLiam read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play.
