In the 3rd minute Valdemar Kallio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 6th minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Valdemar Kallio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Julio Vera. That made the score 1-0 in the 7 minute of play. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Savon Palloseura's Lasse Saarelainen managed to reach the ball for a save. Lasse Saarelainen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by Savon Palloseura's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Savon Palloseura's Lasse Saarelainen managed to reach the ball for a save. 23 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Ecuador's Felix Montes fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciriaco Ferrando, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. With a little luck, Savon Palloseura's Lasse Saarelainen got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lasse Saarelainen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tomas Gaxan during the 58th minute. The referee ignored Savon Palloseura's protests and gave Markus Pakaslahti a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Savon Palloseura getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Markus Pakaslahti hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Savon Palloseura's Ciriaco Ferrando got a free kick in the 70th minute. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Lasse Saarelainen made a huge save. An unexpected shot in the 76th minute by Cristian Sancho got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lasse Saarelainen having to interfere. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdemar Kallio, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Luis Andino got a free kick in the 83rd minute. When Ciriaco Ferrando came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Savon Palloseura fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ciriaco Ferrando couldn't finish the play. After 89 minutes, Dinko Bozhev mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Savon Palloseura and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some careless play in the Savon Palloseura defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lasse Saarelainen. The Savon Palloseura fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lasse Saarelainen should have stopped the shot. After 95 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Primitivo Andino. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
