They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Pedrinho Seedorf hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Carlisle Schultz came out and tried to block the shot, but Alberto Tafalla slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 52nd minute. After 54 played minutes Fluminense DF got a freekick which was hit by Pierre Hopgood. With a little luck, Fluminense DF's Carlisle Schultz got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fluminense DF's Emílio Pimenta quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Macos Graciani, made in the 58th minute of the game. 58 minutes into the game, Macos Graciani threw the ball into play from the sideline. Fluminense DF's Luiz Trigo quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Ingemar Kilman managed to get in a good position for a shot. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. Fluminense DF's Carlisle Schultz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 93rd minute of play. The supporters of Mexico booed when Fluminense DF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo Furlan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 96 minutes into the game, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlisle Schultz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. When the match was over Mexico could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Fluminense DF throughout the match.
