Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Axel Tasis started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Kenneth Majman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5th minute, Aaron Alcocer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Geraldo Trullols succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 6th playminute. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kurt Bure in the 9th minute of play. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arvin Ekerot having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alan Moruga got a free kick in the 21st minute. 24 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Gustav Siöberg came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseo Noboa to maneuver through the defense. When Olof Forsberg fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Benknotorna's protests and gave Olof Forsberg a yellow card for diving instead. Eliseo Noboa struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Arvin Ekerot didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kenneth Majman in the 34th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 38 minutes, Geraldo Trullols managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Benknotorna's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geraldo Trullols was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot 40 in the game by Johan Vall from a close distance when the talented Benito Sanz managed to make a qualified save. Costa Rica's players were relieved. In the 42nd minute, Efrain Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kurt Bure in the 43rd minute of play. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Johan Vall kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Juan Rubio hit a great ball. Gustav Siöberg missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 62 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Benito Sanz right hand side. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geraldo Trullols in the 82nd minute of play. When Eliseo Noboa fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Eliseo Noboa a yellow card for diving instead. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Johan Vall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Aris Dermitzakis came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Benknotorna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aris Dermitzakis couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Benknotorna booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Alcocer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benknotorna's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
