Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulises Selmo, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. The corner ended in Ulises Selmo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. When Mário Moreira fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Balboa A.f.c.'s protests and gave Mário Moreira a yellow card for diving instead. Usain Boltaev hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. 34 minutes into the match, Balboa A.f.c.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Leonides Larpe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ahmet Oğuz Develi in the 39th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remy Uytdebroeck in the 41st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonides Larpe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 45th minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ahmet Oğuz Develi in the 84th minute of play. Felix Montes charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Felix Montes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ulises Selmo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
