Firmin Hurones helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ecuador booed when ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Firmin Hurones didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. Firmin Hurones got his second yellow card in the match during the 18th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Firmin Hurones kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute of play forced ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's goalkeeper Sandalio Domingo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sandalio Domingo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sandalio Domingo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sandalio Domingo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 33rd minute of play. When Hechter Trinidad fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's protests and gave Hechter Trinidad a yellow card for diving instead. Sandalio Domingo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 35th minute of the match. Sandalio Domingo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Sandalio Domingo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nicanor Bajuelo was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's Ibar Revuelta got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Sandalio Domingo made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sandalio Domingo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Sandalio Domingo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. 66 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Sandalio Domingo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sandalio Domingo was a little too slow when Daniel Zorita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 70th minute. The score was now 0-4. With a little luck, ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's Sandalio Domingo got control of the ball when Felix Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 77 minutes ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. 79 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sandalio Domingo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 80th minute, Hechter Trinidad hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 84th minute of the game Camilo Gisbert made a throw-in which Cristian Sancho played forward. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sandalio Domingo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 97 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
