Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Agustín Saelices might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Grzegorz Siekierski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Agustín Saelices ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Edin Džeko's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 11th minute of play forced GeRaÇãO-83's goalkeeper Grzegorz Siekierski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Grzegorz Siekierski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Grzegorz Siekierski didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Grzegorz Siekierski was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. In the 30th minute Medero Gadea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Fabiano Duarte hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Medero Gadea kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. GeRaÇãO-83's attentive Ruperto Enol managed to snatch the ball when Primitivo Andino made a throw-in in the 41st minute of the game. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. Medero Gadea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. When Luis Andino came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Andino couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edin Džeko to make the kick off. Paulinho Ralf hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Medero Gadea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Medero Gadea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Medero Gadea took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edin Džeko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, GeRaÇãO-83's Grzegorz Siekierski got control of the ball when Luis Andino tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Medero Gadea in the 95th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 97 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Medero Gadea sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera.
