Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Szentgotthárd's Bálint Sándor quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Lautaro Puig, made in the 9th minute of the game. Hugo Ferrant made in the 10th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Lautaro Puig however managed to control. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bálint Sándor in the 13th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Costa Rica's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Bálint Sándor fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 17 minutes into the match, Szentgotthárd's goal looked a bit too open when Aaron Alcocer came free, but Mihály Gera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd match minute, Szentgotthárd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Attila Saághy to maneuver through the defense. Mihály Gera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eliseo Noboa went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Juan Rubio made in the 32nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Aaron Alcocer however managed to control. After some careless play in the Szentgotthárd defense, Axel Tasis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mihály Gera. The Szentgotthárd fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mihály Gera should have stopped the shot. Lautaro Puig charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lautaro Puig the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Lautaro Puig hit a great ball. Bálint Sándor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bálint Sándor was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, Szentgotthárd's Mihály Gera got control of the ball when Lautaro Puig tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 53 minutes of play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mihály Gera was left in no man's land by his defense there! 57 minutes into the game, Efrain Moruga threw the ball into play from the sideline. Szentgotthárd's Márton Fehér quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After 62 minutes, Efrain Moruga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Szentgotthárd players grew even worse after the yellow card. Efrain Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. The supporters of Szentgotthárd booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Szentgotthárd's Attila Saághy managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Hugo Ferrant in the 68 minute of the game. Szentgotthárd's attentive Tamás Edelényi managed to snatch the ball when Hugo Ferrant made a throw-in in the 71st minute of the game. Efrain Moruga made in the 77th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Eliseo Noboa. 80 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig threw the ball into play from the sideline. Szentgotthárd's Tamás Edelényi quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Axel Tasis's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 94thth minute, Mihály Gera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Mihály Gera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Chants of Costa Rica echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Szentgotthárd had held the ball for most of the match.
