Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. After 15 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Filip Buculeasa who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Filip Buculeasa got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. If Mei Yi Xi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in POLI TIMISOARA's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mihai Domuță came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 25 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Filip Buculeasa who took care of the corner kick. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mei Yi Xi, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. POLI TIMISOARA were awarded a corner in the 28th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Filip Buculeasa took the corner. After taking down the ball on POLI TIMISOARA's corner Filip Buculeasa fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Cosmin Harbuz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mei Yi Xi in the 33rd minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, POLI TIMISOARA's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Mihai Domuță reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mihai Domuță saved POLI TIMISOARA from getting behind. After 39 minutes, Daniel Zorita made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. POLI TIMISOARA's Mihai Domuță tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Filip Buculeasa couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mei Yi Xi made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mei Yi Xi in the 55th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mihai Domuță having to interfere. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita scored 1-2 in the 69th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mihai Domuță, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. In the 81st minute Jarbas Prestes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mihai Domuță breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jarbas Prestes in the 90th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 92 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Ecuador had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
