União São José FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave El Salvador the free kick. The supporters of El Salvador booed when União São José FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gernando Félix didn't get a good kick on the ball. Glauco Botelho hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. In the 8th minute, Abram Luque hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gernando Félix in the 9th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Tamayo hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. 11 minutes into the game, União São José FC's Gernando Félix nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Zorita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Mateus Nóbrega managed to get in a good position for a shot. União São José FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mateus Nóbrega was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Zorita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 15th minute Glauco Botelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd match minute, União São José FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabiano de Sena to maneuver through the defense. Abram Luque hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. If Gernando Félix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute Gernando Félix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 32 minutes El Salvador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marco de Salles who took care of the corner kick. União São José FC's Lauro da Silveira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save União São José FC from getting a goal against them. Mateus Nóbrega struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Ricardo Zorita didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for União São José FC. Ricardo Zorita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Prata, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Moises Fernandino stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in El Salvador's zone, Glauco Botelho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal and Glauco Botelho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 59 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Marco Tamayo. 63 minutes into the match, Marco de Salles sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Ricardo Zorita threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Marco de Salles this time. The supporters of União São José FC booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abram Luque didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ricardo Zorita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gernando Félix in the 66th minute of play. After having played for 76 minutes, Gernando Félix managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União São José FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gernando Félix was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 79th minute, Gernando Félix left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The União São José FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Abram Luque hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Mateus Nóbrega kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ricardo Zorita. That made the score 0-3 in the 87 minute of play. The El Salvador fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. União São José FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
